Sustainable Travel New Zealand

Respect Nature Tours provides customized individual tours around New Zealand with:

  • Respect for the environment
  • Respect for New Zealand's unique flora and fauna
  • Respect for the people and their culture

At Respect Nature Tours we aim to make our nature tours as sustainable as possible. We try to achieve this in the following ways:

  • Duration of our New Zealand Nature Tours:
Our New Zealand nature tours are longer than the usual 3-week tours of New Zealand. We provide a 6-week and a 4-week option because we believe that you will need all this time to experience the diversity of landscapes and activities New Zealand has to offer. We also believe that when traveling long distances the duration of the stay should be relative to the distance therefore we recommend you stay at least 4 weeks.

  • Environmentally friendly transport:
To minimize our carbon footprint, our nature tours use public transport (coach and train) wherever possible and practical. And you will have close encounters with nature by walking, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking and horse riding.

  • Education and respectful interaction with nature:
Experience the nature of New Zealand with it's diverse landscapes from lush subtropical rainforests, sand dunes, giant Kauri trees and geothermal activity in the North to the unpopulated wild West Coast beaches, Fiordland and glaciers in the South. Get close up with New Zealand Wild Life such as Gannets, Royal Albatross, Seals, Sea Lions, Penguins, Dolphins and Whales.

We work with experienced local guides who will give you an insight into "their" little piece of our beautiful country. These, often award winning, eco-tours operators have a vast knowledge of New Zealand flora and fauna and are committed to sustainable nature tourism.

  • Cultural and social component:
We feed money back into the community by using local guides, small privately owned Bed & Breakfast accommodation (as opposed to hotel chains owned by foreign investors), local produce, cafes and restaurants. That way you get to meet and interact with real New Zealand people, learn about their culture and experience their genuine warm hospitality.
