We now offer individual guided tours to Mangawhai/Northland (approx. 90 min. north of Auckland). This is where we are based and the area we know best. Mangawhai is a small seaside town which locals and visitors alike call Magical Mangawhai, because of its picturesque surf beach, sheltered harbour and natural beauty.
Magical Mangawhai Day Tours
 Pick up from your accommodation in Auckland at 10.00 am. Drive north to Warkworth.  Stop at Parry Kauri Park for a short walk through native bush and admire some impressive giant old Kauri trees.
Drive to Goat Island Marine Reserve for some snorkelling (wetsuits and snorkelling gear provided) or for a trip on the glass bottom boat to get a close up view of the abundant marine life. (weather and sea conditions permitting).
Continue to Mangawhai, a popular holiday spot, and visit the Chocolate factory and Cafe for lunch (not included in tour price) and the Smashed Pipi Art Gallery.

 In the afternoon we spend some time at the beautiful Mangawhai Surf Beach. Go for a swim (in summer) or a walk along the beach. To finish off the day, we visit Te Hana Te Ao Marama Cultural Tourism Centre for an insight into Maori culture, before heading back to Auckland. Return to Auckland approx. 6.00 pm.

In the morning, after a delicious cooked breakfast, pick up from your B&B and drive to Mangawhai Surf Beach. Have a swim in the ocean or walk the beautiful 3 hour coastal walk.
Head back to Mangawhai Village for a visit of the Smashed Pipi Art Gallery and the Chocolate factory and Cafe. |
| In the afternoon kayak across the estuary and climb the big sand dunes.Have fun slidingdown the sand dunes on boogie boards and go for a swim in the sheltered harbour.There is also a chance to see endangered native bird species such as the NZ fairy tern or dotterel which are only found along our coastline. In the evening drive back to Auckland or Whangarei or stay for another day (see different add-on options below). |

Option 1: Try surfing for a day
 You spend the day surfing the waves of our beautiful beaches. Learn water and surf safety techniques to get you up and riding and enjoying the ocean in a safe and secure environment. Up to 4 hours of tuition included. Surfboards and wetsuits (most sizes) and lunch provided. In the evening transfer back to Auckland or to Whangarei.

Option 2: Relaxing ocean cruise
 In the morning drive further north to Tutukaka (approx. 80 min from Mangawhai) and enjoy a relaxing ocean cruise to the famous diving paradise Poor Knights Islands. Aboard the “Perfect Day” a comfortable multi deck cruise boat you pass through breathtaking scenery, giant sea arches and enter the world’s biggest sea cave. You can kayak or swim in the middle of a marine reserve with masks and snorkel provided. After a truly perfect day, return transfer to Auckland or to Whangarei.

Option 3: Kauri museum and Orchard and Vinyard Tour
Pick up from your B&B and drive to the award winning Kauri Museum in Matakohe (approx. 1 hour drive). The Kauri Museum is one of the countries most amazing theme museums. It tells a fascinating story of the pioneer days through the use of Kauri timber and Kauri gum.
In the afternoon take part in the Orchard and Vineyard Tour. The tour includes a visit of an olive grove and two local vineyards, transfers, afternoon tea, food and wine tasting and the opportunity to buy direct from the growers.
In the evening return transfer to Auckland or to Whangarei

Option 4: Play golf for a day
In the morning, after a delicious cooked breakfast, walk across the road and enjoy a day at the Mangawhai Golf Club. Regarded as one of the top courses in New Zealand, the meticulously maintained course is a demanding mixture of wide and narrow fairways, undulating greens landscaped in a picturesque setting surrounded by native bush and wetlands. Your day at Mangawhai Golf Club includes a 40-minute lesson with the local Golf Professional, two 9-hole green fee vouchers, hire clubs and a coffee and muffin at the club house. In the evening return transfer to Auckland or to Whangarei.
